Patients accused health sector authorities who intended to change the care clinic where they receive their hemodialysis and which is currently carried out in unit 36 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

Patients suffering from kidney failure and their families blocked the entrance and exit to the Mexico-Pachuca federal highway for three hours, near the community of Matilde.

They accused health sector authorities who intended to change the care clinic in which they receive their hemodialysis and which is currently carried out in unit 36 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

They indicated that the health authorities want them to travel to the municipality of Zumpango, State of Mexico, to receive medical attention.

The protesters criticized that this measure was not consulted, in addition to the fact that the long trip would affect the health of the patients.

They explained that they receive treatment for up to three days, in sessions of up to three hours, so they considered that the economic and time impact would be huge if them, if they had to go back and forth the State of Mexico.

They considered that there was no sensitivity on the part of health sector officials when they were expected to comply with this measure, so they proceeded to block the federal highway on entrance to the city of Pachuca.

They also added that there are patients who come from distant regions such as the mountains of the state of Hidalgo, who would be mostly impacted.
