Both hotels are the only hotels in Mexico that will have seismic isolators, one of the most high-tech tools to reduce the effects they cause
The AMResorts company will open two new hotels in Nayarit, on the Pacific coast, which will provide 641 new rooms, this despite the economic and health crisis due to covid-19 that is experienced in Mexico.
” Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort and Dreams Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort will be a cohesive property that will be located in the exclusive area of Nayarit near Punta Mita located on the fine golden sand beaches of the Bay of Banderas“, reported the company in a statement.
The complexes, which will open on June 1 of this year, will provide a total of 641 new rooms, of which 363 will be from the Dreams hotel and 278 from the Secrets concept, which will be only for adults. “Both hotels are the only ones in Mexico that will have seismic isolators, one of the most high-tech tools to reduce the effects caused by earthquakes,” said the company.
The investment occurs despite the fact that Mexico is facing the most critical stage of the covid-19 pandemic , which has left more than 1.64 million cases and more than 140 thousand deaths in the country.
The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) recognizes a contraction of 8 percent of GDP in 2020, although it anticipates a rebound of 4.6 percent in 2021. Within the different sectors, one of the hardest hit has been obviously tourism, which accounted for 8.7 percent of GDP before the pandemic. The Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) estimates that Mexico lost 20 million tourists and, consequently, an economic spill of $ 13.4 billion USD in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Even so, Mexico became the third most visited country in the world in 2020, in part due to its more flexible sanitary measures that have kept the main tourist destinations open, such as Cancun, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta. The new AMResorts hotels are the first in Punta Mita, on the Riviera Nayarit, a growing tourist destination in the Mexican Pacific Coast that is located approximately 50 kilometers from the Puerto Vallarta airport.
“They support the unwavering commitment of AMResorts with Mexico and with the objective of participating in projects that benefit the surrounding communities,” said the company.
AMResorts has 68 award-winning properties in Mexico, Jamaica, Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama, and Spain.
