“And to think I believed the military wasn’t corrupt”
National Guard member resigns via video and exposes serious irregularities
In a video that has quickly gained traction on social media, Officer Tony Galgo announced his voluntary resignation from the National Guard, leveling serious accusations against the force.
He revealed that, prior to joining, he held a very different view of the armed forces; however, from the inside, he witnessed acts of corruption, negligence, arbitrary arrests, and the excessive use of force against the public.
The former officer pointed out that the core issue lies in placing public security in the hands of the military, arguing that they lack the policing judgment needed to handle street-level situations.
Beyond abuses against the public, he exposed a deep internal crisis involving harassment and sexual misconduct, illicit substance use among colleagues, and demands for excessive financial contributions to cover shortcomings the institution itself should address—revealing that many patrol vehicles are in terrible mechanical condition.
Upon leaving the force, the officer stated he was departing with his head held high, emphasizing that he never took money from a citizen.
Finally, he explained that he made this decision because he no longer wants to be part of the problem or work in an environment where his personality is suppressed, making it clear that a steady paycheck isn’t everything.
