In a joint operation between Mexican federal authorities, a man identified as one of the FBI’s 10 most wanted fugitives was arrested in the state of Hidalgo. The individual is wanted by authorities in North Carolina, United States, for his alleged involvement in serious crimes.
The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), in coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the National Guard (GN), carried out the capture as part of international cooperation efforts in security and justice matters.
The fugitive was wanted for murder and kidnapping in the United States. The detainee was subject to an INTERPOL Red Notice and an extradition warrant issued by U.S. authorities for his alleged involvement in the 2016 murder of a woman in North Carolina.
In 2017, the U.S. government added him to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, offering a reward for information leading to his capture. He is charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, vehicle theft, and first-degree kidnapping.
Following intelligence work and information sharing, authorities identified the suspect in the municipality of Pachuca, where he had resided for several years. After confirming his identity, he was arrested during a security operation without incident.
At the time of his arrest, he was informed of his legal rights and subsequently turned over to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal status and the procedures for his extradition to the United States.
Mexico and the United States strengthen international cooperation
With these actions, the Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to strengthening binational cooperation in security and justice, contributing to the arrest of individuals responsible for violence who are wanted by international authorities.
The institutions that make up the Federal Security Cabinet reiterated that they will continue working jointly with international organizations to maintain peace, order and the rule of law.
