For many years, one of the best places for recreation in Pachuca was David Ben Gurión Park, home to the enormous “Tribute to the Women of the World” stadium, the Soccer Hall of Fame, and the Mundo Futbol Interactive Center.
It underwent renovations a few years ago and was recently reopened as Parque Cultural Hidalguense.
Now, it boasts new spaces such as sports fields, an open-air theater, a crafts shop, and much more. Here we tell you the details of this space just a couple of hours from Mexico City.
What’s on in the new Parque Cultural Hidalguense?
Among the most striking new features of Parque Cultural Hidalguense are seven sports fields, which can be reserved for challenges with friends and family: three for paddle tennis, two for indoor soccer, one for volleyball, and one for basketball.
If you like running, biking, or skateboarding, a new jogging track, bike path, and skate park have also been created.
There’s a giant chess set that serves as a stage for board game matches and tournaments, especially on weekends.
If you’re traveling with children, there’s a playground area decorated with fountains, a small artificial lake, and colorful animal sculptures. If you’re bringing your puppy, the Hidalgo Cultural Park has a couple of pet areas.
You can also enjoy the outdoor theater, where cultural presentations, soccer games, and movie screenings are held; visit the Hidarte Crafts House, where you can purchase a handcrafted piece made in Hidalgo, or even get lost in a maze of bushes.
One of its main attractions remains the “Tribute to the Women of the World” mosaic, a huge work made with 7 million mosaics in 45 colors, the brainchild of Hidalgo artist Byron Galvez.
At each end of this enormous and colorful corridor are a pair of venues used for various events: the Gota de Plata Auditorium and the TuzoForum Convention Center.
Don’t leave without visiting the Soccer Hall of Fame, the only one endorsed by FIFA. Its football-shaped building houses an impressive collection of memorabilia, trophies, interactive tables, jerseys, and photographs related to the World Cup and the legends of the sport at the national and international level.
Next door, experience the Mundo Futbol Interactive Center, with an exhibit chronicling the history of soccer, physical challenge stations to test your abilities, a human foosball table, a pool table, an outdoor field, and even television, radio, and print media booths to feel like a sports journalist.
How much does it cost to enter the new Hidalgo Cultural Park?
Admission to the Hidalgo Cultural Park, as well as its activities, is completely free.
If you want to enter and enjoy the activities at the Soccer Hall of Fame and the Mundo Futbol Interactive Center, general admission is $135 pesos per person and $88 for seniors, students, and Hidalgo residents.
Where is the new Hidalgo Cultural Park?
The Hidalgo Cultural Park is located in Pachuca, in the commercial and residential area known as the Zona Plateada, not far from Hidalgo Stadium and the city center.
From the Pachuca Monumental Clock, it’s about a 20-minute drive, while from Mexico City, it’s between 1.5 and 2 hours.
Please note that the park opens daily from 6:00 a.m. and closes at 11:00 p.m.; the Soccer Hall of Fame and the Mundo Futbol Interactive Center are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
