In a groundbreaking initiative to promote access to clean, renewable energy among families, the state government of Hidalgo, Mexico, has launched a program offering free solar panels to eligible residents. The program, which covers 100% of the cost of off-grid photovoltaic systems, aims to strengthen household economies and provide households with electricity through solar power.
To qualify for this innovative offer, applicants must be over 18 years old, possess Mexican nationality, and reside in Hidalgo State. Additionally, their home must not have electricity service from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) or any other isolated photovoltaic system, nor can they have benefited from similar programs in the past.
A critical criterion is that the applicant’s residence must be at least 2 kilometers away from the nearest utility pole. The program emphasizes the importance of promoting access to clean energy for families and communities in rural areas where electricity services may not be readily available.
Applicants are required to submit specific documents, including a valid voter ID (INE), Unique Population Registry Code (CURP), proof of property ownership or tenancy, as well as a socioeconomic study form. A letter of commitment from the beneficiary is also necessary and must be signed.
For further information about the program and its eligibility criteria, interested individuals can contact the state government’s designated phone line at 771 688 6189 or send a WhatsApp message to 771 155 0181 between Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This initiative is a collaborative effort among the Hidalgo State Government, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Hidalgo State Energy Agency, and the Ministry of Welfare and Social Inclusion as part of their People’s Programs and Energy that Transforms.
The program represents a significant step towards increasing renewable energy access in Mexico, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon footprints and promote sustainable living practices. By offering free solar panels, the state government aims to empower households with clean, renewable energy sources, enhancing their economic stability and well-being.
